The final piece to finishing the Reefs book was this cover illustration which utilizes 8 photographs including the fork image which I photographed once my customers approved the comp layout.  The book is now with the printer in Hong Kong.

Photo Recognition

Out of 6003 submissions for an online National Geographic assignment these two photographs (three submissions max allowed) were selected as Favorites by the National Geographic editor handling the story.

Above: Snow Geese in Snow Squall: I could only hear the snow geese at first. They landed in a corn field on the other side of a small hill. I crested the hill and took cover behind some grain wagons. Without warning this gaggle of geese, in one sudden, singularly orchestrated movement took flight. The sound of a thousand pair of wings lifting the geese into flight under their piercing honks and calls eerily muffled by the heavy snow fall made for a highly charged atmosphere!

Above: Ocean of Clouds: The alarm went off at 3am for my predawn hike to the peak of Cascade Mountain in the High Peaks Wilderness region of Adirondack State Park. It was an extremely damp climb through dense fog and I questioned whether I would have any views at all. Upon summiting I was greeted with this serene scene of clouds rolling in slow motion like waves through the valleys below.

Digital Art

Created a series of stylized family photo album images reminiscent of photographic prints from the 1950s, 60s and 70s in various stages of staining and degradation to help make an emotional connection for a conservation book project.

Logo Design

Logo and branding for Sneaky Pete’s—a speakeasy restaurant and lounge named after the original owner and bartender of a 40-year staple establishment in the community.  This graphic translated nicely as an embossing on the faux leather charcuterie, drink and dinner menus.

Folder Design

This pocket folder with sell sheets is given to businesses who are looking to build or relocate to Victor, New York, as well as new residents, and highlights features of the Town today and its rich history.  I did copywriting/copy editing for this piece in addition to providing most of the current-day photography.
