Digital Art/Digital Illustration is the practice of creating artistic or creative artwork or imagery using a variety of digital technology.

Following are a variety of recent samples.

Above: The final piece to finishing the Reefs book was this cover illustration which utilizes 8 photographs including the fork image which I photographed once my customers approved the comp layout.  The book is now with the printer in Hong Kong.
__________

Above: Created a series of stylized family photo album images reminiscent of photographic prints from the 1950s, 60s and 70s in various stages of staining and degradation to help make an emotional connection for a conservation book project.
__________
Above: A customer needed to show what a wallpaper background they were offering for low-level donations on a fundraiser campaign would look like on a couple smart phones so I threw this graphic together for them.
__________

Above: Created this dated looking photographic print which sits alone on a toothy scrapbook paper background on the title page of a book addressing the plight of the world's coral reefs where this question is posed: “Will Coral Reefs Survive Our Appetites?”
__________

Above:  Created this two-page 13" x 19" digital illustration to sell the metaphor introduced by the authors that ecosystems of the world’s coral reefs are like a giant jigsaw puzzle where key pieces have gone missing.
__________

Above: This image is part of a direct mail campaign for a design firm.  “Iconstable”, which I added to the star, is a play off the company name.  The star is pinned to an authentic Australian oil-skinned drover which I wore while photographing Big Horn Sheep in Yellowstone National Park.
__________

Above:  This two-page 13" x 19" digital illustration is comprised of more than 50 photographs and various digital illustration techniques.  The assignment was to create a believable photo album spread for a grand father who is sharing information about his Florida Keys fishing days with his environmentally aware grand children.
__________

Above:  I created this 3D rendering of a dimensional moving announcement from the print production files.
__________

Above: Before & After.  I photographed this lamp to get the perspective and lighting just right, then I turned this Conquistador into a statue.
__________

Above: I created this 3D rendering from a product line redesigned for Eureka by photographing the 5-foot-long corrugated box from the customer then applied the 2D digital files to the image and applied the appropriate highlights and shadows.
__________

Above:  Photographing these Silva compass packages my firm designed presented numerous issues.  Consequently, I incorporated the vector production art files to control glare issues, brought in photographs of the individual compasses and applied digital smoothing to the sharp contrast clear plastic blister packs to create a composite image that could be used for promotion.
